Association provides a wide range of services to the community including education, advice and counselling, assisting elderly citizens, vulnerable women, children, social aid programmes, and so on.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Today, the DAH is a point of reference in counselling, shari\u2019ah rulings (fatwas), family affairs, and so on in Mauritius.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The DAH is registered with Building Resilient Individuals...<\/i><\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02c3e36 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"02c3e36\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">History of Dar Al-Hikmah<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4529f61 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4529f61\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Moved by the precarity of life and the level of illiteracy in Vall\u00e9e Pitot during the late 1990s, a group of intellectuals and concerned citizens led by Sheikh Abdool Gaffour Joholee, set up the Dar Al-Hikmah, a charitable organisation based on Islamic values, to respond to the extreme poverty and lack of Islamic education in Vall\u00e9e Pitot.&nbsp;<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--ast-global-color-3);\">They took the initiative to rent a building to carry out the following:<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var(--ast-global-color-3);\"><br><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promote secular and Islamic education in that region to all age groups,<\/li>\n<li>Assist the less fortunate and relieve them by providing them with food and financial assistance,<\/li>\n<li>Listen to issues of the people and provide them with advice regarding a wide range of matters (marriage, divorce, inheritance, family relationships, business, etc.),<\/li>\n<li>And expand other types of assistance to different parts of the island.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Dar Al-Hikmah positively impacted the lives of multiple beneficiaries over the years, especially elderly citizens, abandoned wives with young children, widowed mothers, sickly people, etc.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Dar Al-Hikmah organised multiple Food Fairs to raise funds to assist the poor and disadvantaged. In 2013, the Dar Al-Hikmah, in conjunction with The Citizens Welfare Trust, carried out remedial classes for around 100 children in Form II until they reached Form V. The programme was a success as there was a noticeable improvement in their studies, as proven by the students\u2019 impressive results.<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In the 25 years that the Dar Al-Hikmah has been in operation, it has achieved the following:<\/p><p><br><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The spread of education and Islam to various parts of Mauritius,<\/li>\n<li>Assisted vulnerable families around the island regularly,<\/li>\n<li>Advised couples and families regularly,<\/li>\n<li>Supported various small businesses and self-employed individuals,<\/li>\n<li>And raised awareness regarding multiple issues to prepare the next generation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Dar Al-Hikmah remains steadfast in its mission as it now prepares a younger team to take over the upcoming challenges so that Islam remains alive in Mauritians\u2019 hearts and for peace and harmony to reign in our small island through cultivated and conscientious
